My Dad Needs a Hobby

I received this email from my Dad:

There were a couple of Walmart receipts on the end table. I believe I took them out of your car when I brought it in to be checked. Do you need them or should I just pitch them. The amounts are 54.91 & 36,99. Let me know.

 I like how he thinks the amounts on the receipts are more important than what the items purchased are.

So this is my 300th post, unless I go back and delete any at some point. I wanted to do something to commemorate this milestone but then I procrastinated on coming up with an idea and/or executing the idea and now I have all these image macros to post and yeah.... so here's what I came up:

Foodie Food

Last week I "catered" a party one of my friends was having. It was her son's b-day and I was unable to attend so it involved a convenience store parking lot exchange of food and money. We should have arranged the meet in an alley so it could have been sketchier. But anyway, 45 people's worth of appetizers, $80 worth of groceries, and 5+ hours later... I forgot to get a shot of the buffalo chicken dip, melon, and pineapple trays before foiling them but you get the idea.

I don't think I meant to include that one of my soda and half-n-half. I didn't realize was it was when I was editing those. Ah well.

David Tennant Wants YOU to be Writing

So being the only one in my department who is wage-payroll and without part-time benefits yet, I was the only one total* who actually went into work today while everyone one else took the day off. The difference being that the other wage people have vacation time now and get paid for holidays, and I get neither. It was less lonely and painful and tortuous and cabin fever-y than I thought. Luckily I had a number of things to work on and I compromised with myself and only worked the middle of the day and did not try to do a full 8 hours.

Regardless, on my trip across campus, which had to be on foot since the buses that go from where I'd get on to where I'd get off don't run when students are not around, I detoured through one of the classroom buildings and spotted this on the door of someone's office:

I'm barely a writer but thoroughly enjoyed it, and appreciated whomever that office belongs to for brightening the start to a day I thought would feel like this:

So after I got it posted on fb, I did as I was told and wrote this post.

 

I should stop by sometime after the break and meet the owner because we should so obviously be best friends, but I probably won't because that requires being more outgoing that I am capable of being.

P.S. While trying to decide if my spelling of "Tennant" in the title of this post was correct, I figured out what caused me to no longer be able to spell "tenant" correctly in one try.  

*Turned out there was one other, but it was someone who a) does a different job than me, and 2) I don't know well enough to just chit-chat with. And I didn't know he'd also be working till I saw him on my buddy list once I got to my desk.

The Thanksgiving Song

So apparently this happened. I'm going to let you watch it first then comment on it.


So the guy who wrote and produced the Rebecca Black "Friday" song/video is back and with a vengeance. It's like he was thinking "people hated how stupid Friday was, how can I do something that will be worse?" Dude, please stop teaching us the calendar. I know the order of the days of the week AND I shockingly also know what months which holidays fall in ("December was Christmas, January was New Years, April was Easter, and the Fourth of July, Now it's Thanksgiving").

So these holidays a) take place during the entirety of those months not one day of them and 2) WHAT MONTH IS THE FORTH OF JULY!?!?!. (if you can't include it in the pattern leave it out). Worst part of the video production, where are the grown-ups? Why is a 12year old cooking the chicken sized turkey? Why is the 12 year old hosting thanksgiving for her 12 year old friends? I guess they all got "Home Aloned?" But wait. There is a grown-up. The rapper (and producer) from "Friday" returns and creepily joins them dressed as a turkey.

Anyway, terrible lyrics and video concepts aside, I'm struggling to understand why this guy is continuing to produce these after the disaster that was "Friday." He wants these girls to be shot down all across the internet? (currently 19,079 likes, 139,081 dislikes. I think he just wants to A) be in the videos so people will see him? and 2) make ad revenue on YouTube (9,481,414 views... so far.

Also in my researching if he was in fact the same creepy dude from the Rebecca Black video, I found this: 

It's Saturday morning. H-A-P-P-Y.  But somehow not as bad as the other two. But he is still a grown man hanging out with minors. Where are the parents?!

Okay so petty criticism time (it's just not in me not to):
1) Let's stop pretending anyone counts down to Thanksgiving and that it's a child's favorite holiday.
2) Who brings bbq ribs to Thanksgiving dinner?
3) Why is she not happy her friend brought cranberry sauce? She actually gives him a dirty look.  He could have brought nothing, and cranberry sauce is the second best Thanksgiving food.
4) Rapping. This time being done by the girl, rapping about what foodis on the table and "Can't be hateful, gotta be grateful."
5) I already said it sorta, but why are these kids not at their family's dinners?
6) Turkey leg microphone.

Scrapbooking Returns

It's been months and months but I've finally started scrap booking again with things being slow at my banquet job. Having Sundays off is magical. So yeah finally getting to my trip to Boston from September of LAST year.
